Responsible Supply Chain Management
GLOBAL CSR offers advice on sustainable Supply Chain Management (RSCM). In order to meet the challenges of existing SCM models GLOBAL CSR has developed an innovative and sustainable approach to SCM called Responsible Supply Chain Management (RSCM).
This novel approach to SCM is attracting the attention of a growing number of businesses, government departments and civil society organisations.
SCM Challenges
There are multiple flaws in existing SCM models from a CSR or sustainable development perspective. Besides being costly, they all too often result in the exclusion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from corporate value chains. These approaches are often referred to as SCM generation 1.0 and 2.0.
Some of the challenges associated with the existing supply chain models are:
- Massive resources are used in order to audit and verify compliance among the suppliers
- Suppliers are met with multiple codes of conduct making it very demanding to be in compliance (also known as ‘code-mania’), and
- SMEs get excluded from corporate supply chains because of administration or verification costs related to complying with, often multiple, codes of conduct.
RSCM Session
In response to this interest, an interactive two hour session has been developed by GLOBAL CSR. This session has two key objectives:
- To describe the generation 3.0 Responsible Chain Management approach (RSCM 3.0), and
- To outline and explore how your organisation can participate and benefit from this initiative.
The session may be conducted in-person, via teleconference or videoconference.
